Sojourn of Ben

This is pretty much a ridiculous amount of money for a war. I'm pretty sure that we haven't spent that much money in a long time, and the thing is...WE DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE THE MONEY! I don't understand why we are only plummeting ourselves deeper into debt. I don't understand why we as a country continue to ignore the poverty on our own streets, while we focus on something that is thousands of miles away. The problem is here, and now. The Unites States of America is currently on the BOTTOM of the debt list. When you think about it, half a trillion dollars could buy a lot of meals for the people who are starving as I type this. Half a trillion dollars could go into the budget for education so we don't have to share expo markers. Half a trillion dollars could be used to help protect our fragile environment. I guess the main questions that the cartoon asks me are: Where are we getting the money, and how could it be put to better use?
