Subliminal Advertising

I thought it was incredible how the man in this video was able to pursuade those men into drawing up the exact same poster that he had in mind. He went to great lengths to subliminally persuade the men to do what he wanted. He placed objects around the men to silently nudge them into the direction he wanted them to go in. every single one of the objects was placed in a clever spot. The car they were in drove by a ZOO, and all the people walking across the street were wearing "animal heaven" shirts. These are the things that the advertisers themselves use to pursuade us to buy the products they are advertising.

    Ben,

An epic post. A truly career-defining piece if I ever did see one.

    I know. You hate me.

In all seriousness, I must congratulate you for uncovering a new topic for us to explore. I plan to use this video in future classes. Your influence lives! Immortality awaits!

My only complaint: Several times this year, your blog posts have slipped into summary, rather than delivering new insight or application of knowledge. This post is a classic example.

Your comments offer nothing I could not have learned from simply watching the film. Meanwhile, relevant applications languish unexplored. Where have you seen other examples of subliminal advertising at work? How does this technique apply to television or newspaper advertising? What are the ethical considerations?

I know I've mentioned this before...
